FUNDACIÓN ROSALÍA DE CASTRO

Fundación Rosalía de Castro is a Galician non-profit private foundation set up in 1947 that runs the Rosalía de Castro’s House Museum in Padrón (small town closed to Santiago de Compostela) since 1971.  The Foundation also organizes different activities, both cultural and educational, thoughout the year: a summer festival (Abride a Fiestra), the Rosalía’s Day on 24th of February and many others.      Rosalía de Castro is the historic personality with whom the Galician people identify most and, according to The New York Times, she is “the best poet born in the Iberian Peninsula in the years between the Golden Age to Federico Garcia Lorca”. She is one the most important European Romantic poets. Rosalía was the main figure of the Renaissance (Rexurdimento) of the Galician culture in the 19th century.
